What a CD Means Today — And What It Means At Quinn Records TM

For a long time, the CD was just a delivery format. A way to get twelve songs from a studio into a car stereo. That's not what it is anymore — not in the industry, and not here at Quinn Records TM.

Our CD is no longer just a delivery format. It's a statement. Our CD says, "I'm serious about my music. We've arrived. This matters." And because of that, CDs today have become a premium merch.

The Industry Is Catching Up To What We've Always Believed

The numbers back this up. U.S. CD sales climbed 16% in the first half of 2026 to 16.3 million units — even after stripping out K-pop titles, CD sales are still up 6.7% — a shift Luminate's midyear data describes as "a broader shift toward tangible ownership" (MusicNews). Nationally, physical music revenue overall grew again in 2025, with total U.S. recorded music revenue hitting $11.5 billion (RIAA 2025 Year-End Revenue Report).

That growth isn't happening because fans lack a streaming subscription. It's happening because a CD gives a fan something streaming can't: something to hold, something with artwork and liner notes and credits, something permanent. As one industry breakdown put it, "streaming is invisible, and frankly, it devalues your music... A CD has weight. It has permanence. A fan can own your music rather than rent it" (Indie Music Minute). Buyers today are willing to pay a real price for that — the same analysis notes that when a $3-to-produce CD sells for $15, that profit for the artist is roughly equivalent to what 4,000 streams would pay out. That's not nostalgia. That's math.

What It Means At Quinn Records TM

When someone buys a Quinn Records TM CD, they're not settling for a lesser version of the digital track. They're making a choice — the same choice our artists made when they walked into the studio and decided this music was worth committing to tape and pressing to disc.

Every CD we release carries that same intent forward:

It says the artist is serious. A CD isn't something you throw up overnight. It's mastered, manufactured, and put into a case that says this record was built to last.

It says the label has arrived. Every jewel case with the Quinn Records TM name on it is a small, physical proof that authentic blues, gospel, jazz, and soul still have a home being made and sold with care — not just streamed and forgotten.

It says this matters. A CD sits on a shelf. It gets pulled out, handed to a friend, played loud in a car. It becomes part of somebody's story, not just a line in a listening history.

That's why we treat our CDs as premium merch, not just as one more format option next to a download link. When you buy a Quinn Records TM CD — whether it's a gospel classic like "Songs We'll Never Forget" or a blues session like "Giving You The Blues" — you're not just buying music. You're picking up a piece of a story we're proud to have told the hard way, in full, on disc.

Own the Statement

Our $0.99 digital tracks will always be there for quick listening — full songs, no teasers, at the Digital Download Store. But if you want to actually hold a piece of what Quinn Records TM stands for, the CD is where that lives.
